Birthday Art Party

A couple of weeks ago it was my birthday. I turned eight years old. My mom and dad let me have a mermaid slumber party with some of my friends. I wanted to share my love of art with them, so we did to art stations at my party.

The first art station was traditional painting on canvas with acrylic paint. My parents put plastic down on the floor and we all got our own station and pallet of pinks. All of my friends got to draw whatever they wanted. My friend Mira made a self-portrait of herself. My friend Paige drew a abstract rainbow with inspirational words built into it. Riley Drew hearts with vines growing out of it. Both Amelia and I drew mermaids. Amelia gave me her painting as a gift, because she knows I love mermaids. I am going to hang it up in my bedroom.

The other art project was decorating treasure boxes. My mom painted them gold and put some goodies inside of them. My friends and I got to decorate them with jewels and glitter glue and make them into our own individual art creations.

It was very cool for me to be able to share my love of art with my friends. And I also appreciate the opportunity to share my heart with you.

That’s all for now. We are starting to plan my art gallery for the spring.

Bye!

Spring Updates

February

We visited the junior high that I will attend. We met with the counselors and talked about the classes that we will be taking.  I am getting excited about football season. I have to start work on getting in shape for football, in the fall and then wrestling, in the winter.

March

Easter break was fun but crazy.  We had an extravaganza at church and then a lot of family came to my house for Easter.  We had a bbq!  We went swimming.  The weather was warm, but the pool was cold. We came back to school and now only have 9 week until summer vacation.

New School

On January  22, I started at a new school. It was hard at first, but I was excited to move because it is closer to my home.  I feel like it was a good move because I got a head start of making friends that I will go to junior high with.  I made some good friends that helped me adjust to my new school.  I did know one of the teachers so that made me feel better.  My new teachers were helpful, but it was different from the school that I was used to so it has been an adjustment.

Middle School

Today, I want to talk about how I’m going to get around in middle school and how it is different. These are the things that keep me going in life. My plans for middle school are playing on the Football team, Wrestling once again, and making a lot of new friends. I am going to ask my brother Eddie if he would get me a football paper. The reason why I would ask him to get me a form is because I would not be at Rayburn just yet. The middle school will be handing out some forms for anyone interested in football and any other fall sports. I heard that they will be handing papers out in late June. If I plan on doing football, I would have to get things done and do my work so that I can play sports. I would have to decide quickly because camp is coming up soon. I will get a Wrestling paper after that.

The biggest challenge that that I am thinking about right now is the school work that I would have to do and get used to. The other things that I would have to think about is keeping up with my school work. If they have a place to go for homework, I would try to get into it if it is not during after school so that I would have time for sports and other after school activities. If I do all of those things, I would be able to do the sports I plan to. Whenever I am thinking about things in middle school I would go to my brother Eddie for some advice.

Avery’s Holiday Art

Hello CTEBVI friends!

Merry Christmas! Over the last holiday, Thanksgiving, my mom put me in charge of decorating the table. This is a good chance to show off some of my artwork and have the rest of my family join in an art project as well.

I decided to put paper all over the table in long strips. This works as a tablecloth and also as a canvas. I put everyone’s name on where they were sitting using markers. After that I took all of the markers and did a drawing for each seat. At each sheet I wrote “what are you thankful for?”

During our meal, while everybody was eating, they grabbed markers and started drawing too. It was really fun to see what everybody was thankful for and what they were drawing. This was a really fun project to do with my family and we left the paper out for a couple more days and filled up the whole table canvas.

I drew a heart to represent my family. I also drew Batman for my dad, a heart for myself, an emoji for Grandpa Bob, and doodles for my brother. I also drew a banana for my Nana because I call her Nana banana.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a merry Christmas!

Mia & Taz

Well hello! I am doing this blog on a guide dog named Taz. Taz is a guide dog from a guide dog school in San Rafael. Mia got Taz in June 2017. Taz guides Mia with a special kind of harness for guide dogs. Mia has a way of dealing with her dog while at college and other places. For example, when Mia gives Taz a command such as down, hop up, or stay, he will do that command. Mia also showed me what she does with him in the car during mobility lessons. For instance, if she tells him to hop up, he would get in the car and sit down where you would put your feet.

If Taz is off duty, I will get to pet him as long as it is okay with Mia. Taz and I love it when I get to pet him. I also know that Mia loves, to be guided with a dog as much as a person. If I were able to have a guide dog, I would have to think about how it would work with him or her. I have a lot of pros and cons about it as well.

November Update!

Hello CTEBVI!

I am super sorry for not doing a blog in a while. I would like to tell you about my Halloween adventures as well as some art that I have made recently.

For Halloween my VI teacher invited me and my family over to her house for a party and trick-or-treating. She was so nice to invite us over! We played a few games. One of them was that you had to put your hand into a box and feel objects and then guess what the objects were. My mom won that one. Another game was that you got a list of words that you couldn’t say. If someone else said one of the words on the list you got to take their clothes pin, and the goal was to get as many clothes pins as you could. I won that game! My VI teacher gave me a huge caramel apple as a prize. I also won best costume and I gave that caramel apple to Miss Lindy.

Speaking of best costume, I was Hermione Granger from Harry Potter. My dad has been reading Harry Potter books to me every night. We are on the third book, the Prisoner of Azkaban. Hermione he is my favorite because she is the smartest person in her class and she is super cool.

Back to Halloween, I also got to go trick-or-treating with my brother, my mom and dad, and my O&M instructor, Mr. Nick. It was super fun to do trick-or-treating with my O&M teacher.

I would like to share with you to paintings that I have done recently. The first one is called Flowers Blowing in the Night. This picture shows flowers blowing in the wind at night. I decided to draw it because it’s fall and the leaves are falling off the trees and blowing all over the place.

My next one is called Castle on the Hill. The castle has a couple of flags, a moat and a bridge. I drew a moat because all castles have moats. I was inspired to draw this because my dad‘s favorite singer is Ed Sheeran, and he sings the song “Castle on the Hill”. My dad and I always dance to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking out Loud” song.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
